Job Title: Technical Assistant

Location: Northolt

Salary: £21,000 per annum.

Job type: Full Time – Permanent. 37.5 hours per week.

This is a great opportunity to join our FMCG business based at our Head Office in Northolt, we are a vibrant team, passionate about delivering great service to our customers and colleagues.

We are one of the UK’s most respected food importers, distributors and brand-builders, representing over 100 brands across 13 categories, with an extensive portfolio of products sourced from across the world.

Working with our Senior Technical Adviser, you’ll be responsible for all areas of food safety and product labelling compliance on the site. You will provide a world class service to internal and external customers. Ensuring that products entering the market place are safe, legal and labelled to UK compliant specifications.

The Role:

You’ll assist in ensuring that we continue to maintain our BRC accreditation at the highest level and advise on quality standards for customer codes of practice. Assisting in maintaining the HACCP based food safety management system. You’ll deal with complaints from suppliers and customers seeking successful resolution. You’ll carry out regular inspections of the internal warehouse and external factories. You’ll support in construction and delivery of staff training on Food Safety, legal and quality requirements. You’ll have close liaison with the Warehouse, Marketing and Purchasing teams to deliver labels for our portfolio of owned brands.

As well as maintaining the current systems with administrative and reporting support you will have the opportunity to improve, develop and use your initiative to help add value where possible within our expanding business.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Some experience in a similar role preferably in the food business
  • BRC experience of implementation and managing
  • Auditing experience
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to manage personal workload and manage multiple projects
  • Strong IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Be able to work under pressure and react quickly where required
  • A “can do” attitude
  • Common sense and good attention to detail
  • Knowledge of ethical standards required by UK customers
  • Experience with UK retailer own label systems
  • UK compliant labelling experience
  • Knowledge of conversion to UK labelling standards
  • This is an ideal role for a recent graduate or someone with at least 6 – 12 months experience in a similar role
