Job Title: 2nd Line Support Engineer (Electrical)

Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

Salary: £42,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, full time (37.5 hours a week)

About the role:

NAPIT are recruiting a skilled and experienced individual to join our technical helpline team on a full-time basis to assist with member and scheme technical queries. Ideally based in Nottinghamshire to allow travel to NAPIT’s head office in Mansfield, however we will consider further afield with reduced travelling for the right candidate.

Purpose & Main Duties:

Predominantly electrically biased, we are looking for a motivated, fully qualified and experienced person with an excellent broad knowledge of the electrical industry and associated regulations and standards to BS 7671, Building Regulations and related BS codes of practice. An understanding of BS 5839, BS 5622 and renewable technologies would be an advantage.

  • You will be taking calls and responding to technical and related enquiries from NAPIT’s registered members and local authorities around the requirements of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, Building Regulations and associated industry practices.
  • You will be responding to email enquiries of a technical nature and reviewing technical documents, certificates such as EIC’s and TPC’s and EICR reports.

Essential Requirements

  • The role will require an excellent telephone manner and communication skills, where the candidate must be able to communicate the technical responses clearly and effectively.
  • Candidate will require a solid understanding, with sound and proven technical knowledge across the electrotechnical and building services schemes.
  • To include a high level of technical competence and electrical qualifications across a wide range of electrical installations, backed up by a detailed knowledge and familiarity of BS 7671 and related documents. An electrical apprenticeship/core electrical qualification along with BS 7671 wiring regulations and electrical inspection and testing are required as a minimum.
  • Excellent time management and customer service skills to ensure deadlines and customer expectations are met.
  • Knowledge of MS Office to include report writing and spreadsheet work.
  • Occasional work may be off-site with customers, therefore a full driving licence and ability to work collaboratively is desired.
  • Knowledge of Certification Bodies and training activities desired but not essential. On the job training will be provided for process and systems familiarity.
  • You may also be required to provide technical assistance to other areas of the business.

Candidates with the relevant experience or job titles of; Telecoms Support Engineer, Telecoms Support Technician, Desk Support, Technical Support Engineer Software Engineer, Technical Support, Electrical Supervisor, Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Multi Skilled Electrical Technician, Helpdesk Support Technician, Helpdesk Support may also be considered for this role provided you have the core electrical qualifications stated above.
