Salary: Circa £30,000 per annum

Barden has recently celebrated its 75th anniversary. Starting from our roots in precision miniature bearings, we now cater to a wide range of industries, from the industrial sector and vacuum technologies, to aerospace and advanced robotics. The majority of our products are designed specifically to address our customers’ challenges and surpass normal performance standards. In order to further support and grow our business, we are currently recruiting for various positions within the Product Design department.

Job Purpose:

Working within the Product Innovation team your primary function will be the day to day operation and maintenance of our current life & high speed test rigs, executing the test plans prepared by the Innovation Engineers and summarising the data generated into information for use by others within the business. The test work will underpin our understanding of bearing fundamentals and proactively generate new solutions to maintain Barden as a market leader in the field of bespoke precision bearings.

In addition you will support the wider business through the use of analytical software tools and inspection functions such as SEM, EDX etc.

Key Role Requirements:

  • Design, Commissioning, Maintenance and Operation of test rigs
  • Preparation of bearings for test & samples for examination
  • Preparation of reports and literature in various forms for a wide audience
  • Develop an understanding of the wider business processes in addition to production methods

Knowledge / Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelors Degree, equivalent or higher, in a STEM subject such as Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics etc with a strong academic core
  • Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH)
  • Practical Engineering Experience (eg Formula Student in lieu of industrial experience)
  • Test programmes, equipment and protocols. Labview, or similar
  • An ability to adapt quickly, applying fundamental knowledge to new challenges
  • Data Analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and presentation
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software, Solidworks is preferred but not essential
