Job Title: Test House Engineer

Location: Salisbury

Salary: The salary is flexible and dependent on the level of experience in an Engineering environment.

Job Type: Permanent/Full-time, to be worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30. Flexibility in this role is critical to the success of supporting the team.

The Role:

Chemring Countermeasures have an exciting opportunity for a Test House Engineer position in their well-established, UKAS accredited, Test House team with. You will have the opportunity to work in a busy team supporting a business that supplies defence products to a variety of world-leading companies.

Chemring Countermeasures is looking for a motivated individual who can work well individually and in a team environment. Knowledge of Climatic testing & Vibration testing would be beneficial, however extensive training will be provided. Engineers from a Quality/Product Development background with an understanding of Quality systems and Product development processes will be considered.

The position is a hands-on role, applicants are to have mechanical sympathy and not be afraid to get their hands dirty.

Responsibilities of the role will include, but not limited to:

  • Responsible for the conduct of assigned environmental test programs for internal or external customers through to compilation of final test report.
  • Maintain records of Test House activities and produce written reports.
  • Introduction, and maintenance of, Test House vibration hardware / fixtures.
  • Maintenance of vibration test equipment & fixture, including cross axial motion checks, and annual shaker health checks.
  • Review & incorporation of the latest international test standards.
  • Assist in the liaison with internal and external customers in assessing customer requirements and producing test instructions when required.
  • Participant in UKAS audit team.

Test House Engineer Specification:

  • Right to live and work in the UK with ability to obtain SC Security Clearance (5 years UK residency necessary).
  • Experience working in a Test Lab/Test House or Quality/Product development environment.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of test standards and quality management systems.
  • Ability to assess risk and hazards, advantageous.
  • Proficient MS Office skills – Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, advantageous.

  • Knowledge of test standards and quality management systems (essential)
