Job Title: Trainee Bulk Analyst

Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne area, Lab is located in Cramlington

Salary: £19,000 per annum

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, although can be flexible on start and finish times, with one hour break for lunch

Established in 1995, Life Environmental Services Ltd are an independent National Environmental Consultancy. The company employs a total of 135 staff members covering the whole of the United Kingdom.

The business now provides a comprehensive selection of Environmental Consultancy Services. The core areas of the business are Asbestos Consultancy, Legionella Consultancy Services and Fire Consultancy Services, across all sectors including Construction, Local Government, MOD, Education, Social Housing, Logistics, Manufacturing and many more.

About the role:

Training in Bulk analysis of asbestos samples within a UKAS accredited laboratory, reporting of analysis and report production. Complying to industry and regulation in relation to analysis of bulk samples.

Initially the individual will be trained in safe operation of the cabinet and undertaking of bulk analysis of asbestos samples within a safe working environment. The individual will also be trained to complete reporting and utilise.

The individual will be put on industry recognised course for bulk analysis (BOHS P401) within 2-3 months of joining and supported in training prior to attending the course. Following passing the course the individual will be signed off for Bulk Identification and further supported over the immediate and long-term future within the company.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Following completion of training the individual will be expected:

  • To accurately complete samples
  • Comply with company procedures, legislative requirement and Government guidance
  • Maintain company housekeeping processes
  • Participate in internal and external quality schemes
  • Production of reports
  • Comply with client health and safety requirements
  • Have a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to work safely
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • To always work with integrity and diligence
  • Have excellent communications skills and the ability to be assertive
  • Ensure you do not compromise your or the company’s independence and impartiality status

About you:

This is a trainee role, and open to anyone of any background. Although a science or lab-based background or knowledge would be advantageous – it is not essential, and you will be taught everything you need to know during your time with us.

What is required is anyone who is conscientious, diligent with a keen eye for detail and investigation.
