About us:

SERVE is a charity established in 1981, registered as a charity in 1995, and based in Rushden, Northamptonshire. We support the North Northamptonshire residents as well as lead on Countywide Projects to reduce isolation amongst the Older Person’s population. About the Role:

The Community Transport Manager is to lead and manage a Countywide accessible community transport service and oversee operations of multiple transport programmes in partnership with the Countywide Transport Thematic Group and other statutory and voluntary organisations.

The role will be between Rushden & Towcester Offices and in the Community of Northamptonshire

The role can be two part time positions 18.5 hours per week (x1 Rushden based and x1 Towcester based or one full time position at 37 hours per week (Please make it clear in your cover letter which position you’re applying for, full time or part time).

Key responsibilities:

Set up, lead on a Countywide community transport programme, ensuring development opportunities for future sustainability are effectively maximised

  • Responsible for management of countywide transport programme, monitoring service delivery levels
  • Lead, line manage, support Volunteer Recruitment Officers and Scheduler
  • Part of the management team, working closely with Senior Management
  • Part of Transport Thematic Partnership / Project Steering Group
  • Using appropriate systems to monitor and evidence the work of the service, helping gather, update, organise relevant information in line with outcomes
  • Ensure services are maintained to the highest standard and support further development
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual written/statistical reports for steering groups and liaising with partners as required
  • Ensure grant recipients evidence and report outputs/outcomes per monitoring requirements
  • Lead the design and launch of a Countywide online platform
  • Prepare, deliver presentations when required
  • Evaluate the programme, including preparation of case studies
  • Organise/Chair meetings monitoring service progress, development and share information
  • Engage statutory services and partners who promote beneficiary enablement
  • Attend meetings with the CEO
  • Attend occasional evening/weekend events or meetings (time in lieu given)
  • Represent, incorporate organisation missions and values on a daily
  • Carry out duties consistent with the responsibilities of this post as requested

About you:

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and confident with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of people.

Required:

  • Knowledge/understanding of the impact that loneliness and social isolation has on health and wellbeing
  • Understand needs of disabled people and/or older people in the community
  • Understand the support needs of staff /volunteers
  • Two years’ experience working at Senior Management level in a similar role
  • Experience working in partnership and developing strong relationships with statutory and/or voluntary organisations
  • Experience of people management and/or support
  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities, how it applies to the work of the charity

Desired:

  • Senior Manager within a voluntary organisation or understanding of Community Transport and the importance of accessible travel
  • Setting up a new service
  • developing websites
  • marketing or promoting a service
  • Personal experience of volunteering

Skills:

  • Microsoft 365 knowledge/experience
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent telephone, verbal and written skills

Ability to:

  • Work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Set priorities, manage workload while remaining responsive to events
  • Use critical thinking skills, to plan pro-actively
  • Take an active role in future developments
  • Drive and have access to a vehicle – if full time 50% of the working week will be based in Towcester, 50% in Rushden.
  • Travel throughout Northamptonshire as/when required
  • Willing to have enhanced DBS check through the Disclosure and Barring Service
