Job Title: Travel Insurance Manager / Operations Manager – Insurance

Location: Home working and office (based in Southend-On-Sea)

Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 per annum and home working allowance

Job type: Full Time

The Role:

The role of the Travel Manager is to provide the day-to-day management of our travel insurance line of business (LOB), managing the overall execution of the operational plan to achieve the growth and revenue targets of the group. This will be achieved through working closely with the Travel Directors, Heads and other senior stakeholders and across the business functions for all areas of delivery of the travel insurance proposition.

What will I do in the role?

  • Responsible for leading and coordinating both your own internal resources, as well as working with and through the respective Group functions.
  • Lead and manage the Travel Account Relationship Management resources.
  • Work closely with the Pricing Manager to ensure Group, Brand partner and Insurer objectives and outcomes are achieved.
  • Work closely with the Performance Marketing Manager, to ensure the digital and broad market spend and strategy is aligned for each Travel Brand partner.
  • Work with the Business Solutions team and the Head of IT to ensure the Travel LOB requirements from these functions is communicated and understood.
  • Work with the Head of Operations to ensure partner contractual commitments are maintained and communicated.
  • Work with and through key Group stakeholders providing input and support in the management of outsourced service providers (OSP) and Underwriter relationships.
  • Work with the Business Development Director and Group Bid Team as required for new business tender responses, preparations and participation in client presentations.
  • Legal, Regulatory and Compliance – work with all areas of the business to ensure fair treatment of customers is core to all products and processes and Consumer Duty deliverables are achieved.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and relevant monitoring, measuring and reporting of MI is delivered through working with the Group MI and Data team.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required.

What do I need?

  • Experienced in travel insurance and can demonstrate an understanding of the key elements of travel insurance products, account management and distribution.
  • Proven track record of delivering sales results, proactively leading the sales efforts across multiple distribution channels and business partners.
  • Strong understanding of the travel industry in the UK.
  • Results-driven with an ability to plan and execute.
  • High degree of flexibility and high tolerance for change.
  • Skilful communicator with ability to influence and inform.
  • Significant experience of effectively managing relationships and influencing with internal business customers at a senior level.
  • High level of commercial acumen and industry knowledge – Strong first-hand understanding of the different elements of the Insurance value chain.
  • Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Expert knowledge of relationship management and the skills and techniques used to establish and maintain key relationships and orchestrate the use of Group resources effectively.
  • Strong planning capabilities, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Delivery to a growth target in a high paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above or equivalent to include Mathematics and English.
