Job Title: Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination Officers

Location: Northampton

Salary: £25,500 per annum

Job types: Full Time – Fixed Term (2 years)

About us:

SERVE is a charity established in 1981, registered as a charity in 1995, and based in Rushden, Northamptonshire. We support the North Northamptonshire residents as well as lead on Countywide Projects to reduce isolation amongst the Older Person’s population. About the Role:

The role of the volunteer recruitment officer is to recruit and train volunteers to become drivers for Community Transport for SERVE and our partner organisations across Northamptonshire.

The role will be between Rushden & Towcester Offices and in the Community of Northamptonshire

The role is Monday to Friday – 8.30AM TO 4.30PM

There are two roles available for this position.

Key responsibilities:

To actively recruit and train volunteers for the Community Transport providers across Northamptonshire

  • Actively promote Community Transport volunteering opportunities across Northamptonshire using a wide range of methods
  • Develop role descriptions liaising with the partners
  • Provide Inductions/Training to prospective volunteers to be signposted to partner organisations
  • Ensure volunteers are taken through the DBS process, references are provided and followed up
  • Contribute, maintain and monitor the new online platform with regards to volunteering applications, responding in a timely manner
  • Ensure the volunteering experience is consistently positive, support volunteers by creating a welcoming, professional environment that encourages them to give their best
  • Liaise with partners ensuring volunteers undertake any mandatory training as part of their induction
  • Support partners to ensure record keeping and paperwork is accurate, up to date and stored in accordance with data protection legislation
  • Maintain volunteer database
  • Ensure communication with volunteers is consistent, comprehensive, enabling them to understand the part they play in the wider partnership
  • Support partners, mange the conduct and performance of volunteers where required
  • Contribute to existing and develop new volunteer policies and procedures when required
  • Facilitate feedback channels for volunteers so they can give their views about their volunteering experience, record compliments and complaints and feedback to the Community Transport Manager
  • Conduct outcome star assessments for at least over 100 people over a two-year period.
  • Carry out any other duties consistent with the responsibilities of this post

About you:

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and confident person with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of people.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in recruitment (or a similar environment)
  • Experience developing marketing materials: posters, leaflets, social media posts, website materials etc…
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to speak publicly at networking events and deliver presentations
  • Knowledge/understanding of the impact that loneliness and social isolation has on health and wellbeing
  • Experience using IT and databases

Desired Experience:

  • Experience and/or understanding of Community Transport and the importance of accessible travel
  • Experience working within a voluntary organisation
  • Experience maintaining websites/social media platforms
  • Personal experience of volunteering

Ability to:

  • Work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Drive with access to a vehicle
  • Travel throughout Northamptonshire as/when required
  • Must be willing to have enhanced DBS check via Disclosure and Barring Service
