Job Title: Warehouse Operative

Location: Hitchin, SG4 0UZ

Salary: up to £12 per hour, dependant on experience

Job type: Full time, Permanent

Working hours: 37.5 per week, but flexibility will be required to meet the demands of the role

The foundation of a good supply chain is the management of products and components whilst within the company’s stock and as they move into and out of our premises. The Warehouse Operative will take responsibility for managing the Inbound and Outbound Operation processes and systems that keep the supply chain flowing effectively and efficiently

Key Responsibilities

Main duties:

  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security (for example, setting up housekeeping standards in the office and warehouse areas, ensure that the standards are met)
  • Control the stock of shipping supplies
  • Processing orders and planning the dispatching of goods ensuring that the processes are completed as per the agreed KPI’s
  • Maintain Warehouse admin function (Protean, Excel, Dispatcher, DPD, Outlook)
  • Ensure that weekly audit of dispatch areas is completed
  • Liaise with Bybox Team, Engineers and transport companies when required
  • Make sure inventories are accurate
  • Maintain ‘no goods on the floor’ policy

Key KPIs:

  • Ensure Warehouse area is kept clean and tidy as per the agreed standards
  • Ensure the spare parts and machine stock is stored as per the agreed LEAN standards.
  • Ensure all stock issues, picking, goods receiving and other WH processes are completed by agreed deadlines
  • Ensure all Byboxes /DPD Shipments are dispatched as per the schedule

General Health and Safety:

  • To take reasonable care of your own health and safety.
  • To take reasonable care not to put other people, fellow employees and members of the public, at risk by what you do or don’t do in the course of your work.
  • To co-operate with the Company, making sure you get proper training and you understand and follow the company’s health and safety policies.
  • Not to interfere with or misuse anything that’s been provided for your health, safety or welfare.
  • To report any injuries, strains or illnesses you suffer as a result of doing your job.
  • To tell the company if something happens that might affect your ability to work (e.g. becoming pregnant or suffering an injury).
  • If you drive or operate machinery, to tell the company if you take medication that makes you drowsy.
  • Maintain a daily stock check.

About you

  • Fork truck licence
  • Knowledge of Lean principles
  • NVQ Level 2 Warehousing
